the sky clears, the temperature drops — Saturday resets at 82° after the storms.

The storms cleared overnight. Saturday opens to mostly sunny skies, a north breeze around 3 mph, and a high near 82°. It's the first dry day in nearly forty-eight hours — no thunder, no downpours, just clean air and steady light. Tonight drops to 50°, partly cloudy, with Sunday climbing back to 78° under mostly sunny skies. The Memorial Day heat is gone, replaced by something closer to mid-May.

The Taubman Museum opens at noon and runs until 5 p.m. — good timing if you want to walk over mid-afternoon and spend an hour with the galleries before the evening shift. The Harrison Museum is open noon to 5 as well, focusing on African American culture and regional history. Mill Mountain Theatre has a Saturday evening performance at 7:30 p.m., and the Elmwood on Ice rink is open for public skating at 1 p.m. if you want something indoors and cold. All three are within a ten-minute walk from the flats.

The Roanoke River Greenway is walkable again after yesterday's rain — expect some puddles near the bridges, but the path drains fast. The full stretch from Wasena Park east through downtown is about five miles one-way, flat and shaded in sections. If you want elevation, the Mill Mountain Parkway is dry and the overlook is clear today — about a fifteen-minute drive from the flats, and the view runs unobstructed across the valley. Bring water; it's exposed and the sun is direct.

Sunday shifts slightly cooler — 78° and mostly sunny, with a low around 58° tomorrow night. The weekend arc bends mild after the holiday heat, and the next few days look stable. No rain in the immediate forecast, just steady temps in the upper seventies and partly cloudy mornings.

At the flats, A Few Old Goats Brewing is open on the main floor, pouring from noon until late evening. The courtyard is dry, the patio gets full sun through mid-afternoon, and the Saturday crowd usually picks up after 4 p.m. If you want coffee first, RND Coffee is a five-minute drive west — they open early and roast in-house. The brewery's here when you're ready.
