eighty-six and full sun — the Thursday that pulls you into the evening.

Eighty-six degrees by mid-afternoon, full sun, almost no wind. The kind of Thursday where the morning's manageable and the evening's better. Low tonight drops to 58° under mostly clear skies — which means the patio stays comfortable until 10. Tomorrow climbs to 90°, so today's the easier one.

The Taubman's open noon to 5 if you want an hour in the air conditioning before dinner. Harrison Museum's open until 5 as well — the current exhibits are small but worth twenty minutes. Mill Mountain Theatre's dark tonight, but A Few Old Goats has a small acoustic set at 7 on the main floor — local songwriter, no cover. The kind of night where you grab a table early and stay.

The Roanoke River Greenway's the better outdoor call once the sun starts dropping. Park at the Wiley Drive trailhead — five minutes south — and walk the paved loop toward the pedestrian bridge. You'll get two miles of shade by 6 p.m., and the river's still high enough from last week's rain that it's worth the walk. Mill Mountain's an option if you want the overlook, but it's exposed — go after 6:30 or skip it until tomorrow evening.

Tomorrow hits 90° and stays sunny — plan accordingly. It's the first real heat of June, and it'll feel like it by 2 p.m. Tonight's your window for the longer walk, the slower dinner, the second beer on the patio.

At the flats, the courtyard's in full sun until 6, then it's all shade and breeze. The brewery's pouring the new kolsch — light, clean, built for this weather. The patio picks up the last direct light around 7:30, and by 8 it's just warm stone and string lights. Come down for the 7 p.m. set or skip it and just sit outside. Either way, it's the right night for it.
