eighty-four and west-blown — the Saturday that starts summer clean.

Eighty-four degrees, mostly sunny, west wind barely registering. This is the Saturday that resets the week — no humidity weight, no afternoon threat, just clean June air and a sky that holds blue all day. The kind of morning where you leave the flats without a plan and trust the weather to carry you. By tonight it drops to 59°, so the patio will be excellent after dark.

The Taubman is open noon to five today — the glass cases in the folk art gallery stay cool even when it's bright outside. Center in the Square runs the same hours, and if you're walking that direction anyway, the Science Museum's top floor has windows that look straight down Market. History Museum's Civil War exhibits are worth the detour if you've been putting it off. A Few Old Goats Brewing taps the Juneteenth Jam collab today at 2pm on the main floor — it's a hibiscus-forward sour that drinks lighter than it sounds. They're open until eleven tonight.

The Roanoke River Greenway is the move if you're doing anything outside before noon. Park at the Wasena trailhead and go east — flat, shaded in sections, zero climb. Mill Mountain's always there if you want the view, but today doesn't demand that kind of effort. The greenway gives you two miles of easy river-adjacent nothing, and you're back at the flats by lunch. If you wait until mid-afternoon, it's still only 84° — this isn't a day that punishes late starts.

Tomorrow climbs to 89° and stays mostly sunny until late — then Sunday night flips. Twenty percent chance of storms after 2am, low around 66°. So if you're planning anything that requires dry ground or open-air seating, today's your window. Sunday morning will be fine, but by evening it shifts.

At the flats, the courtyard's in full sun until four, then the west side catches shade. The brewery patio stays lit until seven-thirty tonight, and they're running the Saturday rotisserie menu — smoked half-chicken, charred corn, that same sourdough they've been serving since May. Come down after you're back from the greenway. The weekend's not asking much of you, so meet it where it is.
