a gray Sunday morning, showers likely through one — then the question of whether to wait or stay dry.

The NWS has this morning at 70% — rain showers likely before eleven, then showers and thunderstorms between eleven and one, then a lingering chance through the afternoon. High near 83, mostly cloudy, west wind light. New rainfall a tenth to a quarter inch. By tonight the storms taper off, patchy fog moves in, and the low settles around 65. It's the kind of Sunday that doesn't give you a clean window — just shorter gaps between cells.

The Taubman is open noon to five, which lines up nicely if you want to duck inside after the late-morning showers pass. Right now they've got the permanent collection and rotating exhibitions across three floors — American art, decorative works, contemporary pieces. The Harrison Museum of African American Culture is also open noon to five, a five-minute walk east on Henry Street. Both venues are indoor, climate-controlled, and built for a day like this. If you're timing lunch, scramble over to Texas Tavern on Church Avenue before or after — counter seating, chili, cheesy westerns, cash only, open until four on Sundays.

The outdoor move today is a gamble. Mill Mountain's summit and the Roanoke Star are accessible, but you're betting on the radar between storm cells. The Roanoke River Greenway — especially the stretch from Wasena Park west toward Green Hill — stays mostly tree-covered, which helps in light rain but won't save you in a real downpour. If you go, check the forecast at 11:30 and decide if the 1 p.m. window is real or just wishful thinking. Otherwise, save the trail for tomorrow.

Monday brings patchy fog before nine, then partial sun and a high near 88. There's a slight chance of afternoon showers or storms — 20% — but it's a different day entirely. If you've been holding off on the greenway or the star, that's your window. Drier, warmer, longer.

At the flats this evening, A Few Old Goats Brewing is open on the main floor — same building, walk right over. Sunday pours run until nine. The courtyard's damp but the covered patio holds up fine if the rain stays light. If it doesn't, the brewery's inside seating works just as well. Either way, you're not going far.
