steady rain through tonight, then more tomorrow — a Sunday for staying close.

The sky stayed cloudy overnight and it's holding there — 78° this morning with showers and thunderstorms likely through the afternoon. There's a 60% chance now, climbing to 90% after dark. We'll see a quarter to half an inch by evening, then another half to three-quarters tonight. Pack an umbrella if you're walking anywhere, and expect the rain to stick around through Monday morning.

The Taubman is open noon to five today — good timing for a few dry hours inside with the permanent collection and whatever's rotating through the contemporary gallery. The Market Building has its usual Sunday vendors until two, though the covered pavilion will be your friend if the storms roll in early. A Few Old Goats is pouring on the main floor here all afternoon — the taproom's a solid call when the weather turns. Center in the Square is open until five if you want the aquarium or the butterfly garden upstairs.

This isn't the day for the greenway or Mill Mountain. The trails will be slick by midday and the overlook at the star won't give you much with the cloud cover sitting low. If the rain holds off until this evening, you could get a walk in along the Roanoke River Greenway near Wasena Park before two, but keep it short. Tomorrow's looking wetter — 80% chance of rain showers and fog through the afternoon, so if you're thinking about anything outdoors, today's narrow morning window is what you've got.

Monday stays cloudy with rain showers and patchy fog until early afternoon, then a chance of more storms. Another half to three-quarters of an inch expected. By Monday night the chance drops to 20% and we start drying out — if you're here through Tuesday, that's when the weather shifts. Until then, it's an indoor stretch.

At the flats, the courtyard's open but you'll want to stay under the covered walkway today. The brewery's the move — A Few Old Goats has the main floor taproom going all afternoon, and it's a three-minute walk from your door without stepping outside. The patio's out of play until the storms clear tomorrow night. Sunday rhythm, rain-soaked.
