The Premium.

Who it's for

Top floor. Best light. The flats we'd want to stay in ourselves.

The Premium is for guests who want the best version of the building — not "luxury" in the chandelier-and-marble sense, but the kind of slow, quiet, well-finished space you actually want to settle into. These are the largest layouts (~700 sq ft, big enough that the bedroom doesn't dominate the whole flat), the highest ceilings, and the most natural light. Multiple exterior windows on the upper level mean morning sun, afternoon golden hour, and views you'll actually look at.

It's the right call for longer stays, special occasions, and guests who are working from the flat. If you're here for a week, an anniversary, a quiet writing retreat, a medical rotation that has you in town for 2-4 weeks, or you simply think a vacation rental should feel like a place worth staying in — this is the tier. The Premium guests who book us tend to come back; we have repeat reviews from guests who've now stayed in three or four different Premium units across different trips.

The finishes are upgraded throughout: premium linens (Brooklinen for the bed, Coyuchi for the bath), curated artwork from a Roanoke gallery rather than mass-market prints, a real chef's kitchen with bar seating, and the bathroom finishes you'd expect from a small boutique hotel. The bed in every Premium is a Queen memory-foam mattress with feather-top pillows; reviewers consistently call it the most comfortable bed they've slept in on a trip.

Premiums are top-floor only (no elevator, full flight of stairs from the entrance). Units 101, 103, 105, 107, 201, 203, 204, 205, 207, 209, and 210 are Premiums. Like the other tiers, finish quality is consistent across the units — we'll match you with whichever is available, and you can request a specific one (e.g., 207 for the corner windows) and we'll honor it when possible.

Inside The Premium.

Overview

700 square feet, upper level.

The largest footprint and the upgrades we chose for the flat we'd want to stay in ourselves. Top-floor placement means the best light, the best quiet (no one above), and views from multiple windows. The chef's kitchen has bar seating for casual breakfasts, the living area is genuinely spacious, and the finishes a half-step nicer everywhere. Premium is for guests who plan to spend real time in the room — long stays, anniversaries, work-from-anywhere weeks.

I had such a great stay at The West End Flats in Roanoke. The building has a ton of character but feels updated and comfortable, and my apartment was spotless, quiet, and well set up with everything I needed. The bed was super comfortable.

Are you thinking about staying in a hotel? Why would you when you could be staying in a home away from home? The service is absolutely top tier. The accommodations are outstanding.
