Super clean and very quiet! Unique neighborhood — it's located in a historic district so the surrounding homes are pretty cool to see. Definitely a great place to stay and I'd absolutely return should I come through Roanoke in the future.
The Standard is for guests who want to be downtown without being bothered by it. It's the most affordable tier in the building, but it's not a stripped-down version — it's the same furniture, the same finishes, the same kitchen, the same hosts. What you give up is the second-floor view and the windows that look out at the street. What you get back is a flat that's genuinely dark and silent, even when the band downstairs is in full swing.
If you've ever stayed in a downtown vacation rental and woken up at 6am to a garbage truck, you'll appreciate the engineering. The lower-level units sit a few feet below sidewalk grade, so traffic noise dissipates before it reaches you. The walls are original 1950s masonry — much thicker than modern stick-frame construction. The windows that exist face a private window-well rather than the street, and we've added blackout shades anyway. We routinely get reviews mentioning the quiet, and it's not an accident.
It's also the right call if you're here for a specific reason and not planning to lounge at home. Roanoke regulars who come downtown for a Carilion appointment, an event at the Berglund Center, a wedding at Hotel Roanoke, or a weekend at the Greenway tend to book the Standard. You'll spend most of your waking hours out — at the brewery downstairs, at Martin's three blocks over, on Mill Mountain, walking the Greenway — so a 450-square-foot footprint that nails the basics (real kitchen, comfortable Queen bed, quiet sleep, fast Wi-Fi for the morning email) is exactly enough.
One more thing worth knowing: units 102, 104, 106, and 108 are all Standards, and they're functionally interchangeable. Whichever is available for your dates is the one you'll get; layouts are identical and finishes match. If you have a preference (corner unit, closer to the elevator, etc.) drop us a note after booking and we'll do our best.
Our most efficient layout — every square foot used well. Standard rooms occupy the lower level with no exterior windows, which sounds like a downside until you've tried sleeping in a downtown apartment that faces a busy street. The trade-off is real: blackout-dark, street-silent, naturally cool in summer. Layered warm lighting throughout means you'll never miss a window once the sun goes down.

Great location. Love having the brewery on site. Well appointed kitchen with all the essentials. Everything was in good condition and very clean.
Excellent experience staying here for a last-minute trip! I had to extend my stay unexpectedly and the hosts were very accommodating and highly responsive. Great location — near everything but quiet. Highly recommend!
Great location. Walking distance to lots of restaurants. Everything was very clean and the hosts were always available for questions and recommendations.
